Mediterranean garden with Moroccan influences
Description
The landscaping project of this Mediterranean garden with Moroccan influences was developed in collaboration with the architect Marta Carraro and the gardener Simone Trabucco, Giardini da Cento e Lode.
Designed as a natural extension of the historic villa’s eclectic design philosophy, this landscaping project represents an elegant fusion of Mediterranean tradition and the evocative charm of an Oriental oasis, blending elements from different cultures and eras.
The renovation management process encompassed the planning, design, and construction of the entire garden, including the pool, lighting, irrigation system, and the restoration of an ancient Genovese cobblestone pavement, known as rissêu. The project also involved the design and planting of the vegetation, ensuring a landscape that is both harmonious and rich in character.
Reflecting the architectural approach taken in the villa’s renovation, the garden seamlessly blends historical and exotic influences, recovering and repurposing natural stones and materials wherever possible. Ancient cobbled pavements, slate features, and traditional dry-stone walls, characteristic of Liguria’s noble architecture, merge effortlessly with Moroccan-inspired details, such as expansive lounge benches adorned with aquamarine zellige tiles.
Evoking the tranquil ambiance of a contemporary riad and secluded oasis, a state-of-the-art sand pool with a beach entry creates a serene and intimate atmosphere.
The planting scheme is based on a soothing palette of greens, pinks, and purples, featuring lush Mediterranean shrubs, olive trees, vibrant bougainvillea, and fragrant serpillo. This carefully curated selection brings the garden to life as a sensory-rich, timeless retreat, perfectly attuned to the villa’s historic and geographical setting.
